This is Fortnite Delulu: the fun new game mode using proximity chat for alliances
On September 19, 2025, Fortnite launched one of its most original modes ever: Delulu, a limited-time experience that adds a brand-new element to Epic Games’ battle royale: proximity chat.
Up to 80 players drop into the island in a Zero Build format, but this time, survival isn’t just about shooting skills — it’s also about social interaction. Players can talk to anyone nearby, negotiate temporary pacts, and form alliances… but beware, since only one player can be the last one standing.
A mix of battle royale and social simulation
Delulu blends Fortnite’s adrenaline-fueled matches with a twist reminiscent of Among Us or Impostors, where reading other players’ intentions is as important as hitting your shots.
- You can make temporary friends, but trust is never guaranteed.
 - Alliances can save you in a fight but may collapse instantly.
 - Paranoia takes over: will they help you… or betray you at the worst moment?

This creates matches that are unpredictable, hilarious, and already producing viral clips across social media.
How to play Fortnite Delulu
To try this new mode, simply select it in the “Play” tab. It’s available as an official Epic Games experience, but only for a limited time:
- Spain (mainland/Balearic Islands): Sept 19 at 3 PM – Sept 22 at 3 PM.
 - Spain (Canary Islands): Sept 19 at 2 PM – Sept 22 at 3 PM.
 - Argentina, Chile, Uruguay: Sept 19 at 11 AM – Sept 22 at 3 PM.
 - Bolivia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Venezuela: Sept 19 at 10 AM – Sept 22 at 3 PM.
 - Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru: Sept 19 at 9 AM – Sept 22 at 3 PM.
 - Central America (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua): Sept 19 at 8 AM – Sept 22 at 3 PM.

Players in the Support a Creator program even enjoyed early access one day before.

How to enable proximity chat
To fully enjoy Delulu, you must activate proximity chat:
- Go to Fortnite settings.
 - Open the voice chat section.
 - Set it to “everyone”.

In Delulu, standard party chat is disabled. Instead, you’ll only hear nearby players, whether they’re allies or enemies.
Streamers are loving Delulu
The mode has quickly taken over Twitch and YouTube. Streamers are showcasing the chaos and unpredictability that Delulu creates.
In Spain, Spursito has already gone viral after pulling off plays involving Dembélé and Mascherano in his first matches — proving that alliances and betrayals make the mode endlessly entertaining.
Will Delulu become permanent?
For now, Epic has released it as a limited-time mode, only from September 19 to 22. But with such a strong reception and plenty of viral clips already, many believe it could return later or even be added as a permanent option.
Epic has followed this strategy before with modes like “Impostors” — testing them first in limited runs before deciding whether to bring them back.
Conclusion
Fortnite Delulu is a bold experiment that adds social gameplay to the classic battle royale formula. By mixing combat, alliances, and betrayals, it turns every match into an unpredictable story.
If you want to experience it, don’t wait: it’s only available from September 19–22, 2025. Turn on proximity chat, jump into the island, and decide who you can trust… if anyone.
