Stranger Things 5 Has a Date: A Three-Part Finale to Bid Farewell to Hawkins

Stranger Things 5 is shaping up to be the television event that closes out 2025. Netflix has confirmed that the final season will be released in three parts, between 26 November and 31 December 2025, with a grand finale on New Year’s Eve.

The news was revealed at the global Tudum event on 31 May, accompanied by a nostalgic teaser and a direct promise from the Duffer brothers:

“Hawkins is preparing for its ultimate battle.”

Official Release Schedule

  • Part 1: 26 November 2025
  • Part 2: 25 December 2025 (Christmas)
  • Final Part: 31 December 2025 (New Year’s Eve)

There will be a total of eight episodes, filmed as a single feature-length production divided into acts to keep the tension going right up to the final second.

A Large-Scale Shoot

Filming wrapped in December 2024, and since then Netflix has been working on a “monstrous” post-production, with a particular focus on special effects and immersive sound. That’s why the release has been delayed until the end of 2025.

Hawkins’ Finale Now Has a Date

Everyone Returns… Plus Someone New

Season 5 will feature the entire original cast:

  • Millie Bobby Brown
  • Finn Wolfhard
  • Gaten Matarazzo
  • Caleb McLaughlin
  • Noah Schnapp
  • Sadie Sink
  • Winona Ryder
  • David Harbour

Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, and Brett Gelman also return, and Linda Hamilton (Terminator) joins in a key role yet to be revealed.

A Story with a Circular Ending

The action takes place in the autumn of 1987, in a semi-destroyed Hawkins after the events with Vecna. The teaser shows Joyce recalling “the night it all began”, placing Will Byers at the emotional centre of this final adventure.

The Duffers have promised a season with a darker tone, homages to the first season, and an ending full of tears, but also hope.

Will There Be More After the Finale?

Although Stranger Things 5 will wrap up the main story, the Duffers are already working with Netflix on at least one spin-off, set in the same universe but with new characters and without the original gang.
